After joining the Prime Minister’s national launch of the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyan” by video conference, the Chief Minister and Governor Syed Ata Hasnain lit the lamp to begin the campaign in Bihar at Lok Bhawan, Patna. Young people, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers took the pledge against drugs.
The Chief Minister said that India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 depends largely on its youth.
“A healthy, disciplined and drug-free youth population is indispensable for nation-building. Young people can contribute to the country’s progress only when they remain free from addiction.”
He said the fight against substance abuse cannot be won through laws alone and needs active public participation and sustained awareness. “The government can enact laws, but their effective implementation and social acceptance depend on people’s participation,” he said, calling for a mass campaign among young people across the state.
He said Bihar’s prohibition of liquor since 2016 has had clear positive results, especially for women and families, and that the state will sign an MoU with the Brahma Kumaris to widen public participation in the campaign.
